10 Tips to Long and Healthy Hair

Hi loves! So I’ve been asked a million times “is your hair real?” “how do you grow your hair so long?” “do you have extensions?”… so I decided to share with you guys a few secret tips I’ve done throughout the years to get long healthy hair!

First of, no I do not wear extensions. And second, yes it is possible for you to grow your hair just as long! I always hear girls say that their hair just stops growing at a certain length.. but good news that is not true! Think about it, your hair grows from the root so how would it make sense for it to just stop growing when it hits your shoulders? Your hair just needs a little TLC! I bleach my hair and I curl it almost every single day but I do take care of it and I’ll tell you how in 10 short tips! If you’re someone that wants to grow your hair out or even just wants to get your hair thick and healthy.. keep reading!

Tip #1: Always always always use a wet brush or a wide tooth comb. When brushing your hair always start at the ends and work your way up to your roots until your whole head is brushed out. Never start at the roots! That will rip out a lot of hair.

Tip #2: After you shower rinse your hair with cold water before you get out of the shower. Your hair follicle is like a pore. You have to close the follicle.

Tip #3: Before you go swimming rinse your hair with clean water, especially if you have color in your hair. This will saturate your hair and it will absorb less chlorine and salt. Hair is porous.

Tip #4: Don’t wash your hair everyday. This strips it of its natural oils. Try to only wash it 2-3 times a week.

Tip #5: Use hair oil!!!! I live by Moroccanoil, literally. I can’t go anywhere without it. If you have thinner hair they also have Moroccanoil “light”.

Tip #6: I know this sounds silly but it helped my hair sooooo much. Not only do I take B12 vitamins but I also put it in my shampoo. Put several B12 vitamins in a ziplock baggy and smash it to a powder (I usually use a hammer in my garage) and mix the powder into your bottle of shampoo.

Tip #7: Use extra extra conditioner. I lather in so much conditioner in the shower and I comb it through with my wide tooth comb while I’m in the shower and let it sit.

Tip #8: Coconut Oil Treatments. Coconut Oil stimulates faster growth with it’s vitamins and essential fatty acids. Put it in your hair starting with your ends while your hair is dry. I usually will lather it in all the way up until the crown of my head but not on my roots. Put your hair up in a bun or a shower cap and let it sit for 30-40 minutes for a deep conditioning about once a week. Works best if you can sit out in the sun with it because heat will open the cuticles to let the moisture in. *Shower cap needed in the sun.

Tip #9: Don’t wear your hair up or down for too many days in a row. Switch it up!

Tip #10: The less heat the better.. obviously! Try and air dry your hair out of the shower as much as possible or only blow dry your roots (that’s usually what I do). I also feel like when you blow dry your roots it will make them seem lighter.
